Best Games to Play on Father's Day

Father's Day is coming and it is a wonderful day to reconnect with Dad by playing some great games! We came up with 5 games that everyone can enjoy playing.

Timeline

Timeline is a series of games, so you can start with whichever subject interests dear dad the most. In this game you are using your historical knowledge and intuition to arrange a timeline of events. This is even a great learning game for kids (and all of us really).

Axis & Allies

This is a classic "dad game". It takes someone willing to commit to a longer game, especially if you do not already know the rules, but it is one of the original war strategy games. If your dad likes strategy and tactical games, this is a great choice.

There are a variey of versions of Axis & Allies. We typically have both new and used copies in the store, if you are looking to save a bit of money.

Dungeons & Dragons

D&D has been played by men for the last 30 years and now since all of those folks who played when they were younger and now grown up and have kids, we are seening more and more of them playing as families. Dungeons & Dragons is classic and an amazing game for ages 7+. There is storytelling, math, teamwork and just plain fun killing monsters. Someone does need to run a game, so if the kids are younger then this will need to be an adult. Anyone can prep a game by purchasing a D&D Starter set for only $19.99.

Lords of Waterdeep

Lords of Waterdeep is a board game with a Dungoens & Dragons theme. This is a game best for teenagers and older, but is a great time. It is not as complicated (nor as long) as Axis & Allies, but still requires strategy and planning. Everyone is trying to gain the most points by completing quests. In order to complete a quest, you need to gather your adventuring party from nearby taverns and businesses. Once you have them all, you can complete your quest and gain points and other rewards. You can also help lure adventurers by making your own businesses to attract them. It is fun times for all!

Terraforming Mars

This is the newest game on our list, just having come out in the last couple of years. It has been hugely popular with players who enjoy high level strategy games. As the name indicates, you are working to terraform Mars and bring the global parameters up to the goal. Along the way you gether points based on your contributions to the terraforming process. If you want to try something new and have a bit of time to learn, this is the game for you!
