The great empires of the universe (via the intergalactic council) have decided to punish humanity by designating Earth a prison planet. And shortly thereafter bizarre alien criminals begin popping up all over the world! Fortunately, the Commission on Superhuman Activities notices the invasion and tasks the U.S. Agent to capture the aliens! However the job quickly becomes too big for John Walker to handle alone, so the CSA brings in the Avengers to help! The U.S. Agent and Earth's Mightiest have a very rocky relationship; but when a mysterious citadel is discovered orbiting the Earth, they blast off into outer space together to investigate! Once inside the enormous citadel, the Avengers run into an old enemy: Ronan the Accuser! Meanwhile in Nebraska, Ego the living planet has landed...and he's growing exponentially!
