In a distant solar system, a lone boy named Kyle Harmon is about to begin an adventure unlike any other. The only child on the mineral rich planet Kirawan, Kyle lives a safe but lonely life among the adult settlers of a colony sealed in a dome that protects them from the dangers that threaten them outside it. For companionship Kyle's uncle builds a cyber canine for the boy, that Kyle christens "Red."
